Chapter 96
When You Look For The Fun, You'll Find It

Today's Empowering Quote
------------------------------
"Experience shows that success is due less to ability than
to zeal. The winner is he who gives himself to his work,
body and soul."
-Charles Buxton

Today's Empowering Question
------------------------------
"What do I really love about what I'm doing right now?
What could I love about it?"
------------------------------
Today's Fast Session
------------------------------
For years, I chased money. I thought if I could just earn
a lot of money, I'd be happy.
Boy, was I wrong!
All I did was work harder and harder and never truly got
paid enough for what I was putting in. So not only did I
not have the amount of money that I really wanted, but I
was miserable to boot!
Sure, I put on the happy face and used all the mental
techniques to get top performance out of myself. But when
the day's over, you've got to be happy doing what you're
doing.
If you're a student, you've got little choice. Go to
class and study!
But look to do something after graduation that you'll
love! If you do what you love, you'll find a way to make
your mark.
Recently, I saw Larry King interview Steve Irwin, better
known as "The Crocodile Hunter. " I think he's a little bit
"crazy," but one thing stands out about this guy...
He LOVES what he does!
His mother and father were both into animal conservation,
so he had little choice about his surroundings as a kid.
But he loved it and got really good at it.
None of his friends where he moved to believed that he
hunted crocodiles. So he bought one of the first video
cameras on the market, and filmed himself wrestling with
these crocs. It's AMAZING to watch him do it.
A producer got a hold of one of these tapes and
immediately thought, "This guy's crazy! People will love
it!" He was right, and since then, Steve's life has never
been the same. His show now plays in over 60 countries.
Steve blew me away. And it's not just animals that flip
his switch. No matter what the subject, he is interested,
inquisitive, excited and gets all he can out of every
experience of life.
Do you know what the difference between Steve Irwin and
most every other person alive?
Two things...
One, he loves what he does.
If he were just chasing money, we probably never would've
heard of him... because he wouldn't have stayed in animal
conservancy. His fame and wealth grew out of his passion
for his career.
Two, no matter what he's doing, he's asking better questions than most people ask all day.
He's always asking, 'What's interesting about this?' 'How
do they do that?' 'How can I make this more fun?' 'How can
we do it better or more efficiently?' 'What can we do now
that will make this job less boring?'
You see, he has to do a lot of boring work... sitting
around observing, writing technical papers, etc. So it's
not all fun and games. But he habitually asks questions
that most other people don't ask...
Every single minute of the day.
How can you make today more fun? How can you make your
work easier today, while actually maintaining high quality
and/or speed? How can you remember the information more
completely?
Keep asking those questions and more like it, and no
matter what you do for a living, you'll be happy and
successful.
